Hello,
I wanted advice from those who might know....
I'm wanting to get pregnant. I'm a right leg above knee amputee (accident in '89). I had my pelvis broken in 2 places in my accident. It has been explained to me that my pelvis should be strong enough for a natural birth. What probability would I be labeled as a "High Risk" birth? I eat well, take prenatal vitamins, and am getting back into yoga & pilates. How likely is it that I can have a natural birth? And what direction should I focus my research in to help assure that?
Thank you for your time!

Re: Asking advice from midwives over past broken pelvis and natural birth
Fri, October 24, 2008 - 12:32 PMShe did offer some great directions. And I am eagerly pursuing them. I just thought it would be nice to hear if anyone else had any insights too. I like to get as many opinions as I can to get a better idea of the bigger picture. But that's just me. I thought that the people here might be helpful. -

Re: Asking advice from midwives over past broken pelvis and natural birth
Fri, October 24, 2008 - 1:04 PMWe're all pretty much the same people - spread out over a few different tribes.
Perhaps what Judith posted is the best help that can be offered at this point, from the collective experience of the tribe groups.
Perhaps there aren't too many of us here that have had any experience with your situation. I know I have no experience with your situation, so I knew I couldn't offer up any helpful suggestions.
<<I thought that the people here might be helpful. >>
This is a very helpful group of folks. Just because there was not a great response to your particular need does not mean that the members here should be seen as unhelpful...

Fri, October 24, 2008 - 1:22 PMThank you! I appreciate the insight and response. That makes things a lot clearer. And please understand, I don't feel that the people here are not helpful, just that I was surprised that no one made any comment which seemed odd. Thank you for your kindness..... -
